My ability to garner endorsements from across the political spectrum in Redondo demonstrates that I am committed to reaching out to those with different perspectives and unifying the community. We can get more done if we are all pulling in the same direction!
Through my performance as Mayor, the two Council members who voted against appointing me as Mayor, now endorse me.
All Mayoral candidates are from District 1. I am proud that all three Council Members representing North Redondo trust me over the other Mayor candidates to ensure North Redondo gets the attention it deserves.
City Attorney Mike Webb and I had been on opposite sides of several big issues during my time as a city activist. But since being Mayor, we have worked together to protect the City from overdevelopment. I am proud to have earned his endorsement since becoming Mayor. City Attorney Candidate, Joy Ford has also endorsed me.
I am particularly grateful for the endorsement of four of the five school board members. Our youth are the future. One of the most rewarding aspects of my time in SBPC was engaging student volunteers and seeing them get excited about restoring native habitats. I enjoy welcoming kids to lead our pledge of allegiance at City Council Meetings. Partnership with our school district is a solid part of my platform. It is an honor that our school board members have endorsed me.
I am extremely honored to announce that I have earned the endorsement of Redondo Beach Police Officers’ Association. I have nothing but respect for these first responders who keep our community safe. Having had the experience of riding along for an evening, witnessing demonstrations of our aerodome system, and sitting in the Ops Center for the Beach Life Festival I am very impressed with the capabilities and dedication demonstrated by our police officers.
UPDATE!
As a lifelong environmentalist, I am so proud that I have been endorsed by SIERRA CLUB. You don’t get much recognition as a citizen environmentalist, but getting an endorsement from Sierra Club is like an Oscar for me. I cannot thank Sierra Club enough for honoring my long commitment with their endorsement.
COUNCIL MEMBER SCOTT BEHRENDT, DISTRICT 5:
“Last year, after the passing of former Mayor Bill Brand, I was one of two Redondo Beach City Council Members who voted “No” on appointing Jim Light as Mayor Brand’s successor.
However, fast-forward one year, and I’m humbled to say that Mayor Jim Light has proven me wrong. He’s shown himself to be a unifier who’s committed to serving the entire City, giving both North and South the attention and respect they deserve. Although Mayor Light did not want or plan to run for election, I, along with many others, personally requested and encouraged him to reconsider his decision because of the excellent job he has done….
…after careful consideration, and weighing all options, I’ve concluded that Mayor Jim Light’s track record of dedication, results, and leadership has earned him my first choice vote for Mayor of Redondo Beach.”
